How i-kube Works
We know that young drivers are statistically more at risk of being involved in an accident between 11pm and 5am. It’s also a well known fact that young drivers pay a lot more for their car insurance than any other age group. By incentivising young drivers from being on the road during high risk hours, i-kube can offer you up to 40% discount on your car insurance.
So, for example:
- We calculate the premium our insurer would charge customers directly, just like any other insurance company - i.e. your age, car, postcode, driving experience etc
- By agreeing not drive during the hours of 11pm and 5am and having an i-kube box professionally fitted to your car, we are able to apply a 40% discount to this price.
- If you do drive during 11pm and 5am you will still be fully insured but you will be charged £60 per night
- It's as simple as that!

Need to know even more?
- After you have bought the i-kube young drivers car insurance policy, you simply sit back and wait to be contacted by a representative of i-kube. It’s not unusual for this to happen the same day.
- The representative will arrange for the GPS device to be fitted to your car by a qualified engineer. There is a box charge of £249 which covers the annual monitoring and installation. This fee will be included within your quote or premium. Please click here for more information.
- The date, time and place of the installation will be at your convenience – it could be at your home or place of work. Don’t worry, you are still insured to drive your car before the engineer calls.
- The i-kube unit is a small hand sized device. The installation is very quick.
- Normally it is installed behind your dashboard; this will not damage your car in any way, it is designed to be removed at the expiry of your insurance policy.
- The i-kube unit uses GPS technology in order to transmit a signal to advise the insurance company when the vehicle is driven between the hours of 11.00pm - 05.00am. If you drive during these hours (known as Red Hours) you will incur an additional premium of £60.
- If you change your car, the car must be made available for the engineers to remove the unit and install it in your new vehicle. The i-kube unit will remain the property of the insurance company at all times. A transfer charge may apply. Please click here for more details.
- When a policy is terminated the car must be made available to the engineers to remove the unit. A removal charge may apply. Please click here for more details.
- Your cover will remain fully comprehensive at all times during the life of the policy, even if you drive the car at night. (If you drive at night, you’ll simply be charged £60 per night).
- You can also check your journey information and vehicle location on the service provider’s website.
- The policy is subject to terms & conditions that will be summarised with your quotation and provided in writing at the sale of the policy.
